【摘要】:TheCASStestiswidelyemployedandisusefulforspecificationacceptance,simulatedserviceevaluation,manufacturingcontrol,andresearchanddevelopment.Itwasdevelopedspecificallyforusewithdecorative,electrodepositednickel/chromiumandcopper/nickel/chromiumcoatings.Useofthetesthasimprovedthequalityofelectroplatedpartsandledtothedevelopmentofnewandsuperiorelectroplatingprocesses.1.1Thismethodprescribestheconditionsrequiredincopper-acceleratedaceticacid-saltspray(CASS)testingforspecificationpurposes.Thestandarddoesnotspecifythetypeoftestspecimenorexposureperiodstobeusedforaspecificproduct,northeinterpretationtobegiventotheresults.1.2Thismethodisapplicabletoevaluatingthecorrosiveperformanceofdecorativecopper/nickel/chromiumornickel/chromiumcoatingsonsteel,zincalloys,aluminumalloys,andplasticsdesignedforsevereservice.Itisalsoapplicabletothetestingofanodizedaluminum.Thesuitabilityofthistestandcorrelationofresultswithserviceexperienceshouldbedeterminedbeforeitisspecifiedforcoatingsystemsormaterialsotherthanthosementionedinthisparagraph.Note18212;Thefollowingstandardsarenotrequirements.Theyarereferencedforinformationonly:PracticesB537andE50,SpecificationsB456andB604,andTestMethodB602.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Formorespecificsafetyprecautionaryinformationsee8.1.
